Pflugerville Pets Alive!

“Only if we understand, can we care. Only if we care, we will help. Only if we help, shall they be saved.” -Jane Goodall **Warning: The photos attached to this post are graphic** The journey down Maxwell’s path has been difficult, but he has not let that crush his spirit. One look into his sweet, brown eyes, and you can tell that he has a greater purpose! Last month, he was found alone and unresponsive in a hotel room in Austin. Pflugerville Pets Alive welcomed him back into our program 2 days ago after a short stay with our friends at Austin Animal Center. WhenRead More →

One of the biggest questions that people ask when I tell them that I foster dogs through Pflugerville Pets Alive is “Don’t you get attached to the dog? How can you let go of them?” The answer is pretty simple… I’m attached to every dog in our program not just the fosters that live with me, and the most rewarding part of being a foster or volunteer is finding the perfect home for a dog! In the end, the perfect home may be with me, or it may be with someone else. The goal is always to place the dog in the BEST possible environmentRead More →

Our THE ONE event happened last weekend at PetSmart. There were lots of pets looking for their forever families from different organizations. As a latch-key kid, it was Rusty who greeted me every day after school. When my parents divorced, only Rusty knew what I was truly feeling. When I was 16, myRead More →

I’m sure most of us have seen the movie “Homeward Bound” where 2 dogs and a cat travelled many miles to find their way home back to their family.  It was a story of courage, strength and unconditional love. I hadn’t given much thought of this childhood movie until a similar story happened at the Pflugerville Animal Shelter. Meet Daisy.  Just another dog right?      “It’s me or the dog!” We have heard this saying time and time again when fido steals the Thanksgiving turkey or knocks down Grandma. Typically, the phrase is thrown out in anger and later recanted, but unfortunately there are situations whereRead More →
